How long will my meals last?

All meals – apart from Chia Yoghurt Pods and Cheesecakes (shelf life 5- 9 days) – are snap frozen after cooking and kept frozen for delivery. The shelf life of all products is between 6-12 months from production date.

How should my meals be stored and cooked?

All meals that are delivered frozen should be kept in the freezer until required, and consumed within 2-3 days of defrosting. Detailed instructions for preparing your meals are on the label. But can also be found with each of the product descriptions on this website.

Our Yoghurt Chia Pots and Cheesecakes are made fresh, so pop them in the fridge and check the production date on each product. To extend shelf life for up to 3 months they can be stored in the freezer (texture may vary slightly when defrosted). Remember to defrost in fridge and use within 48hrs. Due to the need to keep our food as fresh as possible, sometimes our Yogurt Chia Pots are frozen in transit. This may cause ice particles to form in the pot, but does not affect the Yogurt Pot’s freshness or shelf life. To ensure your Yogurt Pot is at it’s best, please make sure to stir it before consuming.

If chilled, the use-by date is 10 days from production date. 
If frozen, the use-by date is 3 months from production date. Use within 5 days from defrosted. 

You can use our pods with 25g of our BE Fit Food Protein Muesli. Please store our Protein Muesli separately in a cool dry place. For a softer texture, bircher-style muesli, try adding it to the breakfast pod the night before you eat it.

Instant Omelettes
Are delivered frozen and should be kept in the freezer until you are preparing to eat them. However, some customers tell us they get a better, more consistent texture if they defrost first: we think this reflects the differences between microwave ovens. If you do defrost, consume within 1 day. We have designed these Instant Omelettes to be heated in the microwave from frozen. Remove the lid and replace lightly. Heat on high for 2 minutes. You may need to cook your Instant Omelette a little longer if some of the mixture remains runny. Just stir the mixture with a fork and add another 10 to 30 seconds at a time, until fluffy and cooked all the way through. Or you may prefer to cook your defrosted omelette the traditional way on the stovetop until lightly golden on both sides.

Is delivered dry either in a microwave suitable container for single serves or in a sealed paper bag for serves of 10. Store in a cool, dry place. To cook add 150ml of water (or milk if preferred but not necessary) to 60g of porridge and heat for 60-90 seconds depending on your microwave, stirring every 30 seconds. (If you like your porridge more runny, simply add more water and heat a little longer until you get the texture you like).

Are in plastic containers and are delivered frozen. They should be heated in the microwave according to the instructions on the label with the lid removed. Alternatively they can be heated on the stove in a saucepan.

Hot Meals
Are in sturdy plastic containers and are delivered frozen. The containers are suitable for heating in the microwave but not the oven. We recommend defrosting overnight before heating for best results and pleasant texture to the food. Follow the instructions on the label.

Microwave: (recommended)
Heat in the container according to the instructions on the label. After heating, leave the meal to cool for 1 minute or so.

Remove the meal from the container and place in a tray suitable for the oven, cover with aluminum foil and place on a suitable ovenproof tray whilst cooking slowly on a low temperature until heated through.

Place your defrosted meal in a pot and cook on low until warmed through.

Be Fit Food Protein Balls
Are delivered frozen. Our protein balls need to be kept below 4C and consumed within 10 days if kept in the fridge or you can extend their shelf life to up to 12 months by keeping them in the freezer. They defrost in just a few minutes at room temperature or within a few hours when stored in the fridge.

What is included in the Allowed Extra List?

Our allowed extras list includes a list of Low Starch, Low Carb options that you can use to put into a side salad, side vegetables, small snack between meals plus some extra protein ideas for those who are really active or have higher than usual protein requirements.

Given that our bodies will need some big adjustments for most people to reduce portion sizes from the traditionally larger western size meal to those meals on our BE Rapid Meal Program, therefore we recommend that you include a side salad or vegetables with each of your meals.

These additional side salads/vegetables will not inhibit weight loss due to their low calorie, carb and high fibre properties and by including one serve of ½-1 cup with each meal it will help to ensure that you feel satisfied, especially in the beginning. Plus you might find it helps your bowels by increasing the total volume of food you consume on BE Rapid but the other secret to this is to drink plenty of water.

Being well hydrated will help you to manage satiety (fullness) and also prevent your body from tricking you into thinking you are still hungry when you are actually only thirsty.

And yes, you can drink black tea and coffee on our programs.

Can I have drinks in my allowed extras?

Whilst on Be Rapid and Be Lean 1000, alcohol, soft drinks and fruit juices are not allowed if you want to achieve results. Whilst milky coffees are not recommended, they can be added as your second snack on all programs.
There are a lot of additional calories, sugars and carbs in these types of drinks that tend to make you hungry afterwards, and more hungry for around 24 hours.
Herbal tea and black coffee/tea are fine to consume and if you need to, you can add a splash of milk. If you choose add a small amount of milk to your coffee/ tea, please try to do so only once per day.

As mentioned earlier, if you cannot live without your morning milky coffee, then please include this as one of your snacks for the day using the allowed extras amount of milk.

Ideally we recommend that you stick to water or plain sparkling water.

Diet drinks are certainly not known for their health benefits, so its best to avoid these but if you are desperate, it’s unlikely they will affect your total weight loss.

If you are on Be Lean 1200, or one of our other more flexible programs, the odd glass of red wine will not affect your maintenance goals.

Can I drink coffee on Be Rapid?

In short – yes, you can still drink coffee on any of our programs. To experience the best results possible while on the Be Rapid program, we recommend black coffee, as additional milk is counted as a snack (adding an extra ~100 calories). If you can’t go without your latte, you may choose to include this as your second snack while on the program.

All NSW/ ACT payments are processed on Monday morning after the cut off at 11.30pm on Sunday night.
All VIC payments are processed on Tuesday morning after the cut off at 11.30pm on Monday night.
If the payment is declined you will be sent an automated decline email and have until midday, following cut off, to arrange new payment. This must be done in order for your delivery to be processed for the following delivery date. If the midday cut off is missed, your order will be placed in the following delivery window.


Please check your invoice upon delivery to ensure that you have received everything that you have ordered.
If you are missing items, or some of the items you have received are not correct, you will need to contact us within 24hrs for us to be able to work out a solution.

Can I pick up my order?

If you’d like to pick up your order, you can place this online.
Simply select ‘PICK UP’ as your delivery option.

Please note that you must place your order by 2pm to collect your order the following day. This allows us to ensure that your meals will be packed and ready for you to collect.

Alternatively you can come in store and order in person if you don’t mind waiting for us to put your box together for you on the spot. This can give you the opportunity to have your body composition tested on our bioelectrical impedance scales to track your progress from one of our in-house dietitians/nutritionists.

*If we are out of stock of any item you order, we will let you know and discuss appropriate replacement meals with you.

Can I cancel my order or return items?

Orders cannot be cancelled after the cut off times below: 

  • New South Wales cut off: 11.30am Monday,  for next delivery date. 
  • Sydney Metro 2nd cut off: 11.30am Wednesday for 2nd delivery date option (delivered on the following Tuesday). 
  • Victoria cut off: 11.30am Tuesday, for next delivery date. 
  • Melbourne Metro 2nd cut off: 11.30am Thursday for 2nd delivery date option (delivered on the following Saturday). 
  • South Australia cut off: 11.30am Tuesday,  for following Saturday delivery.

In regards to our return policy, unfortunately we can not take back any meals that have left our store or have been delivered. As we are dealing with food and cannot guarantee how meals/ items have been stored whilst out of our care, we cannot accept or swap any stock.

Environmental Statement

At Be Fit Food, we are working hard behind the scenes to ensure that our impact on the environment is minimal as possible. This commitment is reflected in the packaging we have sourced, for the benefit of the environment and our customers.

Each delivery will arrive in our distinct Be Fit Food Cooler Bag. This bag is only charged to customers as a once off $10 fee, and as well as keeping your meals and snacks lovely and cool, is 100% reusable – which is very handy now that the era of the plastic bag is coming to an end.

Please note that whilst our drivers make an effort to collect used bags, they will only be able to do so when they have room in the vehicle, and when the bags are 100% clean and free from rubbish and foreign matter. Our Distribution Centres adhere to have strict hygiene and food safety standards. We apologise if your bag has not been collected, and we are working on improving this service in future.

Our bags are reinforced with a recyclable cardboard box, and lined with a Woolcool sleeve. This amazing product is made from sheep’s wool and is a sustainable and highly effective natural insulation material. This product is biodegradable, recyclable, compostable and keeps your meals protected in transit.

Finally, all of our meals containers are recyclable and BPA free.

What happens if my delivery goes missing once delivered?

As a customer, please ensure that you provide a safe location for your delivery (both for your order and for our drivers). Be Fit Food is responsible for ensuring that your order is safely transported and delivered as per your instructions, and we will provide proof of delivery for each order. Once delivered, the responsibility for your order is transferred to you. Be Fit Food will make every endeavour to provide the best possible customer service and support for any issue related to your delivery, and our amazing team are available on support@befitfood.com.au or 1300 263 257.

What should I expect from my Be Fit Food Meals?

Be Fit Food meals and programs are all about real food scientifically formulated by a Doctor and Dietitian to create rapid weight loss safely and get you on the path to sustained healthy living.

What we eat every day is so full of salt, sugar and other flavour enhancers that we have forgotten what real food taste like. Sometimes when our customer’s first taste our meals, which is food as it meant to be, they find the flavor is not as strong (sweet / salty / intense), as they are used to. We welcome you to add natural spices into your meals, such as pepper, chilli, nutmeg, curry powder and other herbs, to create a taste that you enjoy, without the nasties. Over a short period of time, you will start to really taste and enjoy whole foods, as Mother Nature intended.

What is the nutritional content of the meals?

Our meals are all made from high quality, fresh ingredients including lean beef, skinless chicken breasts and tenderloins, lean lamb fillets, Atlantic Salmon and a wide array of seasonal vegetables, legumes, nuts and seeds with up to 4-12 varieties in each meal.

We use a range of whole grains in our meals including quinoa, brown rice, whole meal soba and buckwheat noodles as well as high protein, low carb pasta. We also use many different legumes as an extra source of dietary fibre and protein to promote better satiety (fullness) and support digestive health.

Our meals are all calorie controlled and formulated to be high in protein and a source of dietary fibre.

Each meal is designed to provide a source of essential vitamins and minerals which may include Iron, Calcium, Folate and B Vitamins just to name a few and this will assist you to meet your estimated daily nutrient requirements.

Why is alcohol so bad on the Be Rapid Program?

Not only will alcohol contain additional calories, carbs and sugar, it has an immediate effect on the liver, and pauses your ability to burn other nutrients, and makes you more likely to store your next meal as fat in your body.

How often should I do Be Fit Food?

Once you reach your goals, it is important to reset your system and we, therefore, recommend undertaking the BE Rapid program 3-4 times per year.

What is the science behind Be Fit Food programs?

Be Fit Food is helping Australian’s lose weight rapidly, and keep it off for good. With a scientifically proven recipe, Dr Geoffrey Draper, a weight loss surgeon, and Kate Save, a weight loss dietitian & exercise physiologist, use real, healthy food that is nutritionally balanced to satisfy your appetite. You will feel full for longer and live a healthy lifestyle long-term by following the Be Fit Food programs.

What is a ketogenic diet?

A ketogenic diet is when your body utilises your fat stores to fuel your body’s energy requirements. To change over to this kind of metabolism it takes most people about 2-4 days of strictly eating Be Fit Food’s Be Rapid program. When your metabolism changes to this state, you are said to be in ketosis and this can be tracked with a ketone monitor if desired. Please speak to one of our dietitian’s for more information.

How will being in ketosis affect me?

For these first 2-4 days you may intermittently experience hunger, fuzzy headedness, sweatiness, irritability and lethargy (you’ll be a bit “hangry” perhaps). This will then decrease, and you are likely to feel energetic and really keen to exercise, which you can do. The most important thing is to keep well hydrated, as this is usually the reason for these symptoms as your body loses more water during this period. But, remember you must keep to the diet strictly or the symptoms of the first 2-4 days will return. You might like to test for ketones daily to keep you on track. Please ask our dietitian for more information about ketone testing.

Be Rapid is a mildly ketogenic diet.

Can I alter my diet and still expect results?

The short answer is NO…

If you do, you will get too hungry, not lose as much weight and slow the rate of weight loss and potentially not get enough nutrients. For example, you might think you could replace the breakfast pods with regular Greek yoghurt, but without the right advice from our dietitian’s you may not select the correct variety or portion and get too little protein and calcium or too many carbs and calories etc. In other words, the science behind the Be Fit Food diet requires you do not alter the diet in any way.

Do not alter the diet for exercising.

Do not skip meals or snacks (even though you might not be hungry). Skipping meals will mean you will get very hungry later in the day or straight after your next meal.

How can I manage sweet cravings?

If you are someone who gets regular sweet cravings, most likely this is because you are either not spreading your meals well enough throughout the day, or you are dehydrated or simply bored and trying to find simple pleasures in food.

From our customer’s experiences, we are told everyday that these sweet cravings subside after just a few days, and more often than not, they rarely, if ever return. Some customers suggest cutting up our Be Fit Food protein balls to spread them over the day which can give you a little sweet pick-me-up mid morning or afternoon or to crush the sweet cravings after dinner.

Worst case scenario, have a back-up stash of diet jelly or diet drinks in your fridge in case you need to give in to something sweet one day and at least you will stay in ketosis and not inhibit the weight loss although there is nothing beneficial to be gained from this nutritionally…

How long should I be on Be Fit Food?

Use Be Rapid and Be Lean 1000 for 2-8 weeks at a time. Repeat every 3-4 months for 1-2 weeks for a metabolism reset.

Be Lean 1200, along with our other weekly or monthly meal packs can be used for convenience, as well as maintenance. You are able to stay on these plans for as long as you like, though please consult with our Be Fit Food Dietitians for advice and support on your BFF journey.

Is it safe to do Be Rapid whilst breastfeeding?

While you are breastfeeding, your nutritional needs are increased, as your body ensures it can supply sufficient nutrients to your growing bub. We would not recommend rapid weight loss in the early stages of breastfeeding to ensure that your milk supply remains constant, however after the first few months, if your baby is not fully reliant on breastmilk, you may be able to use the Be Rapid program if you find it does not compromise your milk supply.

Will I be hungry?

On the first few days of the program, you may intermittently experience hunger, before your body adjusts to a lower carbohydrate intake. Once your body has entered a state of mild nutritional ketosis, these feelings will decrease. Our meals contain 20g of protein and include 4-12 different vegetables, to help maintain satiety.

Do I have to give up alcohol to lose body fat?

To experience the best possible results while on the program, we recommend limiting alcohol, as it can contribute significantly to your overall energy and carbohydrate intake. Additional calories and carbohydrate can also leave you feeling hungrier for around 24 hours afterwards.

Can I exercise?

It’s good to exercise for overall health and fitness, but intense exercise for durations longer than 60 minutes per day may leave you feeling more hungry than usual while on our program. We recommend trying to maintain your current exercise regime where possible, aiming for around 30 minutes of low-moderate intensity activity per day.

This diet is suitable for those preparing for surgery including weight loss surgery.

Be Lean

Our Be Lean program is all about slower and gradual weight loss and weight management. In alignment with a Mediterranean style diet, this program allows you to have a glass of wine or a piece of chocolate every day in addition to the meals, if you’re on a maintenance plan.

You are welcome to add your own additional snacks and allowed extras foods if desired.

What is the Be 5:2 Program?

Many people doing the 5:2 diet are not sure what to eat on the 2 “fasting days”, and if they are consuming the right number of calories. Be Fit Food has these answers for you. Allow us to provide you with your two fasting days per week for the whole month.

How Long?

Use Be Rapid and Be Lean 1000 for 2-8 weeks at a time. Repeat every 3-4 months for 1-2 weeks for a metabolism reset.

Be Lean 1200, along with our other weekly or monthly meal packs can be used for convenience, as well as maintenance. You are able to stay on these plans for as long as you like, though please consult with our Be Fit Food Dietitians for advice and support on your BFF journey.
